Hey Fred, it is Terry Bartik jjust wanted to let you know how we are doing, as you know we won the states race with the world formula and got 2nd in the 160. At phoenixville after the first 3 weeks of getting used to the new car and motor we won I beleive 8 out of 11 races with 2 of them getting timed out before we could get to the front. We have only taken the formula to schnecksville about 5 times and won 4 and we were a litle shaky with the 160 up there for a couple of weeks but we have smoked them the last 2 weeks. We went to the dual in the dirt and won the A in the formula and the judges took away the win in the 160 with a bad call.I think we have a chance to win driver of the year again this year at  Phoenixville, So just wanted to drop you a line and let you know how good these motors are running.

thanks again,
terry bartik

Fred,

A quick note to thank you for the rebuild. Our son's times have improved
dramatically. There are many factors to influence this
of course, but we're sure it isn't pure irony that this wasn't happening
until we dropped in the newly rebuilt motor.

His first grands in over the first half of the feild he was 3rd best
qualifier. The second half caught up to him and ended him 20th of 52
drivers, and into the F main out of mains up to M. Despite being surpassed
by the last group of qualifiers things were very close at that
point...everyone within 100's and 1000's of each other toward the end.

His qualifying time surpassed his best ever (6.882) and his lap times during
his
race were even better averaging 6.84 when we had previously been running
anywhere from 7.10 to 7.01. If we had run there qualifying at
Grands we'd have been in the dead last heats. When me and our fellow club
supporters saw his final qualifying time we all tripped over each other
running to give him hugs and congratulations. It was a really cool moment!!
Driver gets a lot of credit for giving it all it had and running a great
line, but the engine definitely has improved our performance noticeably.

In his race he got caught in traffic due to his outside position and we have
some coaching to do there regarding that situation, but like I said his lap
times during the race were still surpassing anything we've seen to date so
we are "over the moon" happy and very proud of how he did in his first
National event.  I'm sure everyone is searching for that a, b, c main
qualifying position, and might not understand our excitement at qualifying
at just better than 1/2 the drivers in the class, but we couldn't be more
proud that he ended up even at F of M!!!!

Thanks again for your overwheming supportive service, patience, advice,
time, quick turn around etc.

When I get a chance I'll forward the photo of him with Jeff Burton who was
there because his son runs in our class.

Thanks again!!
