TIP
#4: When you get "TECHED"! Hopefully you will be teched a few times this season. I have listed some tips for when you are involved is a complete engine tech. 1. Remove engine and exhaust system from the race car. Do not remove anything from the engine, unless you are instructed to do so. Do not break any seals.( throttle linkage is not a techable item). 2. Make sure engine is cold before going to the tech bench. 3. Follow the instructions your tech man gives you. (Most tech personal are excellent, just help them do their job BUT! DO NOT GIVE THEM MONEY.) 4. If you feel your tech person is not qualified, ask for a qualified one to assist. There must be one somewhere within the region. 5. If a question arises, the rule book has the answers. If you can't find it in the book, the tech will legislate a new rule within minutes. 6. Put the teched parts in parts in plastic bags---IF YOU GET ANY BACK!. 7. Rap up the crank, cam, head, rod, and piston in soft rags to protect them.( if these parts are scratched or nicked, they may not be reusable). 8. Be sure all your parts are returned and you have them when you leave the tech area. Some tech personnel seem to accumulate a heck of a lot of extra parts by mistake. 9. BE CALM! Your A-main engine is legal -----At LEAST TODAY IT IS!!. 10. REMEMBER, the tech personnel are essential to QMA's success. Treat them with respect. 11. If tech scares you----buy a DECO--they NEVER GET TECHED! 12. OK GANG-----Just Kidding----I think! |
